Frank Lamie | President, Board Chairman
Frank began his 38 year career in the fire service in 1975 joining the City of North York as a firefighter. He advanced through the ranks serving as a Training Officer, Chief Fire Prevention Officer and Administration Chief with the rank of Platoon Chief. In 1998 the six municipalities within Metro Toronto were amalgamated to form the new City of Toronto. Frank was appointed as Division Chief, Staff Services in the newly formed Toronto Fire Services. In June of 2006 he was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief and had responsibility for the Fire Prevention and Public Education Division with a staff of 135. During his career Frank served on committees with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. John Ambulance, National Fire Protection Association, Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. He served as a Director with the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs for five years. Frank is a graduate of the Advanced Fire Protection Technology program at the Ontario Fire College.
Craig Dockery | Vice President, Director
Craig Dockeray has been a firefighter for over 22 years and currently holds the rank of Captain for the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services. Originally from Montreal, Craig has a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Agricultural and Bioresource Engineering from McGill University. He has been a Board member for Firefighters Without Borders since 2004 and has been involved with multiple International training and equipment delivery projects.
Jon Pannunzio | Director of Training & Accreditation
Jon Pannunzio is a Fire Service professional currently serving as Division Chief-Professional Development and Training for Whitby Fire and Emergency Services where he manages the development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of training programs for the Department. Jon has previously served as a Captain in Training, Shift Trainer Instructor, and Firefighter. Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts from York University in Toronto and has completed an Advanced Certificate in Public Administration from Ryerson University in Toronto and has several NFPA Certifications including: Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer III, Incident Safety Officer and Technical Rescuer. He is currently a Pre-Service Firefighter Training and Education Professor with Seneca College and an active International Instructor. Jon joined FWB in September 2018.
Danielle Mischkot | Director of Projects
Danielle is a non-profit professional with experience in volunteer management, project management and marketing. Currently, she works at the Canadian Red Cross as a project coordinator for Community Health and Wellness Programs.
She holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Guelph, a post-graduate certificate in International Development from the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, a Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is working towards her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. She is passionate about helping vulnerable populations and community development.
Rabia Khattak | Director of Major Donors
Rabia has been working with United Way Greater Toronto in the donor relations and marketing team for three years. She has previous experience of non- profit international development with United Nations Development Program dealing with disaster and conflict situations in different challenging environments in Asia, Middle East, Africa and North America. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Education in Higher Education from the University of Liverpool, UK focusing on Canada’s reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals. She is passionate about helping people suffering in crisis and supporting them to rebuild their lives.
Christina Stroud | Director of Marketing & Communications
Christina Stroud is a collaborative and strategic communications professional with over 19 years’ experience. She has held leadership roles in both mid-size privately held agencies and large multinational corporations. Currently, Christina is a Communications Manager within BASF Canada’s Agricultural Division where she develops and executes comprehensive strategic communications plans, manages media and stakeholder relations, and oversees the social and digital communication platforms. She has worked in a variety of communications capacities, including marketing, customer relationship management, and corporate communications. Christina joined Firefighters Without Borders in 2019.
Erika Adams | Volunteer Coordinator Director
Erika Adams has several years of management experience in communications, stakeholder relationships, research and policy. Her experience with the fire service comes from her work with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) and the Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada (AFAC). Erika holds a BA (Honours) degree in Communications from the University of Ottawa, as well as a MA in Public Administration and a PhD in Public Policy from Carleton University.
Nancy J McKenzie | Legal Council
Nancy J. McKenzie has a J.D. from the University of Alberta (Can) and LL.M. from the University of Bristol (UK). A member of the Alberta Law Society, her practice focuses on regulatory, contract/commercial, compliance, privacy and corporate law. She is also experienced in labour, real estate and first nation law. She has represented generators, utilities and customers in rate, facility and policy proceedings before the AUC (and predecessors), appeared before the CER, NRCB, and all Alberta courts. Her key skill sets include business transformation and change management, strategy, negotiation, project management, and communications, as well as (business and technical) writing. She also participates in various sports, enjoys volunteering and raising Scottish Terriers.
Sonya Santolin | Board Secretary, Director
Sonya Santolin recently joined Firefighters without Borders as Director, Board Secretary and Chair of Nominating and Governance Committee.
She is a qualified corporate lawyer (Ontario, Canada) whose extensive experience has focused on company secretariat & administration, corporate governance, corporate legal advisory and regulatory compliance, and sustainability, in several international locations.

Jeremy Parkin | Advisory Board Member
Jeremy Parkin is currently the Deputy Fire Chief with Rama Fire Rescue Service in Rama First Nation. He has been in that role since 2009, and worked his through the ranks since joining the department as a recruit in 2001. He has also been a volunteer for three departments since he started his career in 1998 with Mohawk Fire Department in his community of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Throughout his career, Jeremy has been an active instructor in a wide variety of disciplines and courses within Ontario. For over a decade he has been an advocate for improving fire safety on First Nation communities at the community, provincial and national levels.
Darius Kharazmi | Advisory Board Member
Darius Kharazmi is currently a firefighter with Pickering Fire Services and serves on the Executive Committee of the Pickering Professional Firefighter’s Association. He graduated with Honours from Seneca College in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program in 2012. While he was at Seneca, Darius was the President of the Pre-Service Firefighter’s Volunteer Committee. He has won both national and provincial volunteer awards in recognition of his volunteer work with thirteen organizations including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and the Durham Regional Critical Incident Stress Management Team. He has been a volunteer with Firefighters Without Borders since 2011.
Taras Korec | Advisory Board Member
Taras Korec has over 15 years of senior management experience running supply chains globally in the automotive, consumer packaged goods, high tech and healthcare industries. He is recognized as a global logistics expert in business process and technology implementation who develops and inspires teams to harness technology and maximize the bottom line impact of business process changes. Prior to joining Parmalat, Taras held senior management roles at Siemens Automotive, Mars Canada, Christie Digital and CML HealthCare. Taras holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the University of Toronto, and MBA in Marketing Management from City University, Seattle, WA, and is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Professional Logistician.
Tim Beckett | Advisory Board Member
Tim Beckett is Fire Chief for the City of Mississauga Fire & Emergency Service where he manages the overall strategic, financial and day to day operations of the department. With 29 years of fire service experience, Tim has served as Fire Chief in Kitchener and City of Whitchurch-Stouffville prior to coming to Mississauga. He is also past President of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (2010-2012), and has served on the board of directors for 9 years in many capacities.
Kevin Kendall | Advisory Board Member
Kevin has been a logistics operations professional for over 20 years (6 with Metro) and has a broad range of experience in all areas of distribution centre operations and transportation, as well as expertise in production and materials management. Kevin’s previous responsibilities include; Senior Director of Operations at SCM (Walmart’s logistics network in Canada) and Director of Operations at Exide Technologies. He also has extensive experience in pharmaceuticals with management positions at BDH (Merck) and Miza. Kevin has experienced solid success in developing business relationships through strong team member engagement and customer service focused cultural programs.
Mathieu Dagonas | Advisory Board Member
Mathieu Pierre Dagonas is the executive director of the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC). He has 15 years of political affairs experience, which includes working in senior provincial government roles. In 2011, Mathieu led the team that won Mike Crawley the position of president and national campaign manager of the Liberal Party of Canada. He has served on many boards, is CEO of an eSports start-up and is a passionate advocate for youth engagement, activism and mentorship. He lives in Ajax with his wife Rachael and their son Nikolas.
